EKT ePublishing was developed by the National Documentation Centre of Greece (EKT) with an aim to provide open access to scholarly eJournals, eBooks and eProceedings, as well as a range of integrated publishing services to the country's academic community.

Currently ePublishing hosts more than 20 peer-reviewed academic eJournals (thousands of open access articles) in various categories and dozens of eBooks and eProceedings. The integrated ePublishing environment has been developed with open source interoperable technology. The platform also hosts publications of accredited publishers from Greece.

We believe that the primary purpose of scholarly communication is the promotion and distribution of knowledge and we are committed to the principles of open access in providing publishing services (software, tools, knowledge, technical expertise, consultation services, web hosting and documentation) to the country's scientific communities, organizations and institutions. More than a dynamic application, EKT ePublishing embodies a business process which reinforces EKT's vision to contribute to the process of transition to new models of e-science.

Since 1980, the National Documentation Centre (www.ekt.gr) actively engages in the aggregation, organization and dissemination of scientific and technological information in Greece and internationally. The Centre's objective is the aggregation, organization, online dissemination and preservation of quality-assured scholarly and educational content in a single research infrastructure.

Relying on a long tradition of technical expertise and valuable experience, EKT follows the recent developments in scholarly communication to promote alternative ways of publishing and managing scientific content, assisted by technology and based on wide-spreading business models which enable the internationalization of Greek scientific publications.

Digital journals presented at EKT ePublishing are a result of the institution's successful co-operation with publishers of peer-reviewed journals and institutions/organizations with international prestige in the field of research and culture. Organizations and research institutions can benefit from EKT's publishing services and enhance their publishing capabilities and management procedures by selecting as many or as few services needed.
