Styliani Barmpat is a doctoral candidate (Dpt of Psychology, Panteion University and she holds a degree in Sociology (Dpt of Sociology, University of the Aegean), a Msc in Virtual Communities (Dpt of Psychology, Panteion University), and a certificate of Pedagogical and Teaching Competence (School of Pedagogical and Technological Education) with emphasis on virtual communities as a mean of communication, interaction and development of social collectivity, the identity and the body of individuals in cyberspace, and the educational dynamic via the Internet. About Dimitrios

Dimitrios Karras is a doctoral candidate at the Dpt of Psychology, Panteion University (thesis title: “Online local social media: Towards a hybrid neighborhood”). He holds a B.Sc. on Communication and Mass Media (University of Athens) and a MSc in Virtual Communities (Dpt of Psychology, Panteion University) with emphasis on human-computer interaction systems. He has long experience in supervising teams of designers, frontend and backend developers, developing commercial websites and developing multimedia applications. Combining his work experience on the Information Technology sector with his education and active research in the fields of communication, mass media and psychology of/in cyberspace, has a special expertise on databases and social software development and monitoring.

About George

George Dimitriadis is a doctoral candidate at the Dpt of Psychology, Panteion University. His research focuses on the application of virtual communities and their use in secondary education.He holds a degree in computer science engineering (Technical Educational Institute of Athens, 1995). In 1998 he attended the one-year program at the pedagogical and technical school of Patra. In 2010 he received his MA in Digital Technologies and Communication in Education (School of Education, University of Manchester, UK). Since 1996 he is a computer science teacher at secondary education schools.

Georgios Vagias

About George

Georgios Vagias is a doctoral candidate at the Dpt of Psychology, Panteion University. He holds a degree in Sociology (Dpt of Sociology, Panteion University) and a Msc in Administration of Virtual Communities (Dpt of Psychology, Panteion University), with emphasis on the socio-psychological study of virtual culture, cyberpolitics, social media and online youth communities. He has participated in numerous research projects, national and EU-funded, holding research, management and administrative positions, e.g.: a) “A study of structuring, constructing and functioning of virtual communities” (2004-2006) (national-funded), b) “A study of technological and sociological factors that affect the use of e-learning and e-commerce systems” (2007) (national-funded), c) “Measuring Youth Well Being (MYWEB)” (EU-funded / FP7) (2014-2016), and d) “Innovative Social Investment: Strengthening Communities in Europe, INNOSI” (EU-funded / Horizon2020) (2015-2017). For more than 15 years he has taught, as a voluntary tutor and as part of the curriculum of the Dpt of Psychology (Panteion University) on graduate and post-graduate level, the following lessons: a) “Virtual Organisation” (Theory, Principles and Application), b) “Sociology” (Introduction and Basic Principles), c) “Social Sciences and the Internet” (Introductory Issues), and d) “Cyberpolitics and Virtual Communities” (Introductory Issues). Apart from his extensive research and teaching experience, he has long-term involvement and experience in leading, administrating and supervising project teams, e.g. member of Organising Committee and Chair of Poster Administration Committee, Web Science Conference “Society On-Line”, 18-20 March 2009, Athens, Greece. Lastly, he has contributed to numerous publications, translations and conference presentations /posters on various scientific topics: virtual communities and cyber-citizenship, virtual organization, web science, sociology of political communication, sociology of nationalism, sociology of health and medicine, criminology, children and youth well-being in times of crisis (on national and EU level), empowering women participation/youth unemployment, active labour policies and social innovation strategies (on national and EU level). His current research interests mainly include: online / offline social and interpersonal dynamics, sociology and psychology of cyberspace and the internet, web science, sociology and psychology of youth communities and politics, new and social media culture, classical & virtual organisational theory, virtual life and virtual technologies.

About Spiridoula

Spyridoula Theodorou is a doctoral candidate at the Dpt of Psychology, Panteion University (thesis title: “Study of the political behaviour by applying the distribution of the 'unclear' vote”). She holds a B.Sc. in Statistics (Athens University of Economics and Business) and a MSc in Services Management - Management & Business Administration – Marketing, Public Relations & Communication Strategy(Athens University of Economics and Business). She has participated in several studies: “Polls and Mass Media: An Interactive relation”, International Conference on Management and Marketing Sciences 2008. “Prospects of cross border business cooperation and stable networks of economic relations Greece – Bulgaria”, 2008. Expertise services for the NSRF 2007-2013/General Secretariat of Trade Affairs, 2008. Study for the documentation and digitalization of cultural contents in the frame of the project: “Interactive and Ethnological Atlas”, 2008. Feasibility Study for the Creation of International Centre of Eco-Tourism in Greece – Region of StereaEllada,2008. “Study of recording and analysing the current situation in demographic, social, professional, cultural and educational level of immigrants living and working in the Prefecture of Preveza”, 2008. “Maintenance and Promotion of Common Cultural Heritage in the coastal area Greece-Italy: Common standards for infrastructure and promotion activities”, 2008. She has a strong academic and professional background as a consultant on consumer behaviour, market research and opinion polls. She speaks Greek (mother tongue), English, French and Italian.
